Texas Advocates Conference August 8-10, 2008
The 2008 Texas Advocates conference registration form is now on-line Here. Stipends are limited, sosubmit your forms as soon as possible.
Anyone is welcome at the Texas Advocates Conference. We certainly encourage young people to learn about self advocacy. The earlier he better. Currently the bylaws require you to be 18 to join Texas Advocates, but you are not required to be a member to attend the conference. The board is looking at changing their bylaws to take out the age requirement for membership.
The current tentative workshop titles include: Renting or Owning a Home Voting Community Forums Transportation Self Determination Knowing your rights for community living Rules for Working Legislative Advocacy Artworks Dream Big (person directed planning) Healthy relationships Chapter membership
We will also have some fun afternoon workshops on cooking healthy, yoga, movies, etc.
