Meet Our Honorary Chairs: Emily & Steven Loh

Emily and Steven Loh know what it means to walk into an unexpected journey and find a community waiting on the other side.

When their son Henry was born, his prenatal diagnosis of Down syndrome caught them by surprise. Steven, who now serves as DSG's Board President, has been candid about those early days: "When Emily got pregnant, Down syndrome was not even on our radar as a possibility. The prenatal diagnosis caught us by surprise. Although it took time and a lot of emotional energy to accept, adjust, and reorient, we would not change a single thing if given the chance. Henry has forever changed our lives in such a positive way."

Henry is now a happy, active kid who adores his little sister Natalie, the family dog, and music. He's also become a local force for Down syndrome awareness in his own right, serving as the Guild's 2024 Buddy Walk Self Advocate Honorary Chair and Grand Marshal. Henry and his team of "helpers" have raised more than $390,000 for DSG and its local programs since 2021.

Since the Lohs' very first days with Henry, the Guild's New and Expectant Parent Program and Welcome Kit have stayed woven into their family's life through educational seminars, community connections, and events like the Buddy Walk and Family Picnic. Emily gives that same care back to other families, volunteering her time with the Guild's iCan Bike program, offering physical and emotional support to individuals with Down syndrome as they learn to ride a two wheel bike over a five day camp. Steven's dedication to that mission, both as Henry's father and as Board President, hasn't gone unnoticed: he was just named 2026 Board Member of the Year by D CEO's Nonprofit and Corporate Citizenship Awards.

That belief in community, and in Henry's fullest, brightest future, is exactly why we're honored to have Emily and Steven serve as Honorary Chairs of The Extra Ordinary Ball.
