Ask the Special Education Attorney

Do you have questions and concerns about the upcoming school year?  Are you informed on your child's educational rights for both remote and in-person learning?  Special education law attorney and dad, Roy Atwood, will discuss compensatory education, review your child's rights to a free and appropriate public education, and help answer any questions you may have for the upcoming school year.  Attendees are encouraged to submit questions in advance at the time of registration.  This session will be recorded and made available to all pre-registered attendees only, so you must register in advance to receive access to the live and recorded links.  Registration closes Thursday, July 16, 2020. After 14 years as a Trial Practice partner at Jones Day, one of the ten largest law firms in the world, Mr. Atwood retired and opened Atwood Gameros LLP with the intent of providing clients with efficient and high-quality service at reasonable rates. Drawing upon experiences learned as the parent of a child with special needs, Roy began representing students and their caregivers in their efforts to obtain the free and appropriate public education promised them under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. Since 2013, Roy has represented clients in numerous Admission, Review and Dismissal (ARD) committee meetings, 504 plan meetings, special education due process hearings, and federal court.  Roy currently serves as Board President for the Down Syndrome Guild of Dallas and also serves on the Board of Directors for My Possibilities.  Full Bio.
