Down Syndrome and Hearing Challenges

Bari Pham, Au.D, will review why the Down syndrome population is more prone to hearing challenges and review testing recommendations and techniques while discussing treatment options and recommended monitoring schedule.

About the Presenter:
Bari Pham, Au.D., has 20 years of audiology experience with the pediatric population. She is Audiologist, Director of Hearing Services at Monkey Mouths Pediatric Therapy in Southlake.

After graduating from Vanderbilt University, Bari began her audiology career at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. In 2003, she moved to Texas and began her professional journey at Cook Children’s Medical Center, where she practiced and grew over the next 17 years. During this time, Bari established strong, lasting relationships with physicians, educational professionals, therapists, and, most importantly, patients and their family members. Her true passion is patient-focused/family-focused care. She believes that by collaborating with all the professionals involved in a child’s life we will be able to provide the best care with the most successful outcomes.

In her free time, Bari enjoys cheering on her kids at their sporting events and getting together with friends.

As an Audiologist with 20 years of experience, Bari has training and specialization in the following:

  • Providing diagnostic audiology evaluations for the pediatric population

  • Providing hearing aid evaluations, fittings, and management of a variety of surgical and non-surgical amplification options

  • Providing assistive listening device options

  • Auditory Brainstem Response testing

  • Cochlear implant evaluations and programming
